The newest work of Spindrift is complete. After listening to the readings of the epic novel “Quest of all Ages” by Maha Devi Li Ra La, Spindrift was inspired to feel into the power and legend of the God of the Sea.

“…It’s not like I set out to say ok, here’s point A and I want to get to point B. I didn’t set out to make a companion piece to the writings, but it does somewhat align with it in themes. I think it’s beautiful how it happened. There was a point when I thought, “Wow this is really aligning with Maha Devi’s writings somehow It was more like I was on this journey where I had to open myself up. In a way I think I tapped into some of the same soul energy, or at least became very sensitive and reverent to it.” -Spindrift about some of the inspiration behind Poseidon

To convey the depth, expanse, richness of life and raw power of the oceanic world was the challenge. According to legend, Poseidon was equal to nearly any challenge.

The latest creation of Hydra Coil is here! Building on the success of their previous work, Nova, Aether is the next evolutionary step in the universe of Hydra Coil. Working sometimes side by side and other times with distances between them, Marcus Aurelius and Aaron Marshall sought to give voice to the elemental space between spaces.

“We were talking about how Nova is more like out there and celestial, really broad, and raw. Whereas this one is more of the earth, spirtual, elemental. It’s kind of like Nova was the soundtrack of the creation and this album is the soundtrack of further growth with a lot of human qualities like the innocence of children. It’s airy, and heavenly. When we figured out the theme of this album we were both so, I would describe it as almost awestruck. Wow, it really came together.” -Aaron Marshall about Aether

A new collaboration between Marcus Aurelius and Aaron Marshall to form the new group, Hydra Coil. Nova is an experiment, turned success of the symbiotic work of the two artists. Producing together for the first time, these two long time friends under the support and encouragement of Ananda Bliss Harmonies have created something special. Living next door to one another, Marcus and Aaron discussed their shared passion for space, discovery and how they might express the vastness and mystery of the universe through music. Nova is born.

Spindrift under the Ananda Bliss Harmonies label. It is an album about optimism and a hopeful future, inspired by Spindrift (a.k.a Aaron Marshall) signing with Ananda Bliss Harmonies, the birth of his son, starting to meditate, and his moving cross-country to Napa Valley in California.

“Fields of Greater Happiness had a lot of complex emotions attached to it. The thought process, and theme was about expanding consciousness. (Other music I have done)… had more specific thematic content. Fields of Greater Happiness is more of a meditation.” -Spindrift
