Maha Devi Li Ra La Interview

Maha Devi Li Ra La Interview Cover
Maha Devi Li Ra La - Spring Blossom

Maha Devi Li Ri La in the forest that surrounds her home

Having been immersed in the natural world from an early age, Maha Devi Li Ri La gained a strong sense of self-reliance and appreciation for life. This in turn has inspired her to create the album Within Myself which is an etherial soundscape inspired by mother nature and the cosmos.

Maha Devi Li Ra La is a Black Forest, Germany raised, world-traveled multi-talent who recently released her first music album, Within Myself, under her own label Ananda Bliss Harmonies. As a child Maha Devi Li Ri La enjoyed a home full of music. She received basic piano lessons and listened as her father, who was an pianist, played and practiced for his many concerts and musical events. Maha Devi Li Ra La’s father would play the musical works of all the known classical as well as jazz and Evergreen composers and the little Maha Devi would dance and hum along to these harmonious tunes. The music she was exposed to during this time greatly raised her awareness and appreciation for musical structures and the melodies and rhythms became deeply embeded into her intuitive mind. Unlike his own super-disciplined and time-consuming training, her father couldn’t bring himself to enforce the same joy squashing discipline on his beloved daughter. Growing up without the same four hour daily practicing routine her father had to endure, but rather having plenty of time to frolic in the adjacent forests and meadows, Maha Devi Li Ra La grew up as a free spirit, and (except for during her school attendance) remained unencumbered by rigid structures and painful rules.

It seems that musical genius runs in your family. Your son, Marcus Aurelius, is one of the artists you feature under your label, isn’t that so?

Maha Devi Li Ra La - Repose

Maha Devi Li Ra La: Yes, it is. He and his friend Aaron are publishing their music under the group name Hydra Coil. They are currently working on their third album together and Ananda Bliss Harmonies is going to release the album this year. Both my children, I have a daughter as well, are musically gifted, and both grew up practicing the piano. I guess part of me always regretted not having mastered the piano fully as a child, whereas another part is glad I wasn’t forced to sit through long hours of practice every day. I was able to develop a deep connection with nature as a result of having been out a lot in the forests and meadows as a child.

How would you say the natural world has influenced your music?

“In beautiful, natural environments, I (…) connect with the nature spirits that enliven and care for the (…) trees and plants.”

Maha Devi Li Ra La: It feels very soothing and healing to me to be surrounded by trees and flower meadows. Where I grew up, Nature feels gentle and lush, and people take the time to hike and bike through the woods on the many holidays they reserve for this widely practiced way of relaxation and natural workout. Our forests have numerous hiking paths that connect major cities and that allow the hiker to walk through forested areas for days on end. I have seen so many places of idyllic beauty, with colorful wildflower meadows, gently winding creeks, softly rolling hills, orchards, and pristine views. As a result urban development just feels artificial and unnatural to me. As if my soul cannot breathe! In beautiful, natural environments, I often feel and connect with the nature spirits that enliven and care for the vast varieties of trees and plants. In urban environments or barren looking, chemically treated mono-agricultural areas, my spirit feels as if choking for life energy.

Is this the realization and inspiration behind your debut album Within Myself? One of your songs, In the Garden of My Soul, in particular seems to hint at your deep connection to Nature. Can you talk a little more about the driving force behind your music?

Maha Devi Li Ra La - Land Idyll

Maha Devi Li Ra La: Having traveled a lot, and having lived abroad for extended periods of time, I came to appreciate the natural beauty of the environment of my upbringing in a new way again. There are many exotic and wildly beautiful landscapes I came to love on our planet, but I also had to realize that lots of places lack the feeling of a mild and humanly conducive natural habitat, and instead exhibit rather extreme temperature differences, flood-like rains, droughts, deforestation, and huge monocultural fields that all but destroy the rapidly diminishing nature sanctuaries that ideally should stay easily accessible from any residential area. I found myself yearning for the lushness and abundance of the evergreen trees of the Black Forest, and the many precious old and tall trees of the deciduous forests of the Schönbuch Nature Preserve my hometown is sandwiched between.

“I consider caring for Nature
to be synonymous with
caring for our own selves:
As within, so without,
and vice versa.”

However, even in our beautiful countryside, life-destructive influences have long begun to spread, with farmers using toxic pesticides and chemical fertilizers to spray their fields, and neighbors ignorantly using the many toxic pesticide sprays to abuse their fruit trees and lawns as well. It is my understanding that these toxic sprays account for the increasingly menacing allergies so many sensitive people suffer under, as well as for the shocking decline of bees, the natural pollinators, for a colorful and diverse plant world. As a child, I enjoyed the spiritual dimension of the trees, feeling and connecting with the oversouls of various tree species and of the huge variety of other plants. Under my parents’ guidance, I would gather certain plant parts for their medicinal properties, thus raising my appreciation for the healing qualities of Mother Nature. Nowadays, when I pass by an area that has just been sprayed with chemicals, my soul shrinks from the distorting, destructive assaults on life, as if an evil hand has just given Nature a beating. This out-of–control feeling has, over time, motivated me to create my own nature-attuned versions of anything that is dear to me. This includes the music I have created! The song “In the Garden of My Soul” is an expression of my love and awe for the healing influences of Nature, a Nature that pleases our senses and supports our healthy life styles, for as long as we don’t harm it, and stay in harmony with its laws, cycles, and rhythms. Ultimately, in the same spirit as the Native Americans who understood the natural environment to be an extension of the individual’s body, I consider caring for Nature to be synonymous with caring for our own selves: As within, so without, and vice versa. In our polluted world, purity seems to have become almost a luxury, and still it is the only state in which lasting health, true happiness, and bliss can prosper, and in which the spirit can open up to the miraculous blessings that stream from higher dimensions of existence.

It is obvious that the Divine is prevalent in your lyrics. Would you consider yourself a religious person?

Maha Devi Li Ra La: I hesitate to put a label on myself, since many people associate their own prejudices with certain words. But I can say that I am spiritual in so far as I believe in and connect with higher realities that lie beyond average human perception. I believe in an ultimate source of life that underlies all of creation, and from which all living beings can draw their inner resources, subconsciously and consciously. I know, from my own experiences, that the more conscious I am of the existence of this ultimate source of life, the more I am able to tap into it and grow beyond my own limitations.

I marvel at the way in which your songs unfold. They seem to tell a story, starting from the first song, the title song Within Myself, and ending with the elated sounds of Pure Bliss. Can you talk about the way in which your songs unfold and also about the strong theme of the Divine Mother within your music?

Maha Devi Li Ra La - Water Fairy

Maha Devi Li Ra La: You are right; I tried to put meaning behind the sequence of the songs. Within Myself appeals to the power within each soul, it reminds of the universal character of the individual soul essence, as it is a reflection of the universal essence of the Absolute, the Ultimate Source of Life. Nothing that happens within the individual is outside the all-encompassing realties of the macrocosm, and nothing that happens outside the individual, no matter where within the depths of any of our universes, cannot ultimately also be found in the super or subconscious mind of the individual himself. I think that the sub- or super conscious mind connects us with the field of all possibilities, the infinite ocean of conscious awareness that unites all of life. I think this is the truth behind the wise words of ancient times: Know thyself, and thou knowest the universe! Again, the motto of this album is: As within, so without, and vice versa. I like to think of the individual as a hologram, a microcosmic version of the macrocosm that has all the potential for life lying curled up in his subconscious mind and slumbering kundalini energies. An awakened and fully realized being expresses the spiritual powers that are associated with enlightenment, where a unified mind experiences itself as the totality of All That Is. To me, there is nothing more empowering than to look inside for answers, for it is from this place that the individual creates the kind of life that makes him the happiest and the most fulfilled!

Maha Devi Li Ra La - Flower Maiden

“I like to think of the individual as a hologram, a microcosmic version of the macrocosm.”

Based on this powerful realization, In the Garden of My Soul takes up the thread and leads the listener on a journey along the waters of life that connect all life forms, starting from the All-encompassing Source of Life, and leading towards the All pervasive Ocean of Life Force that underlies all life expressions. It is basically a hymn to life, a devotional attunement to the very forces that uphold, shape, nourish and protect our precious lives! I incorporated Nature sounds into this song, like bird singing, river, and ocean sounds, to enhance the feeling of Nature attunement, and with that the feeling of being attuned to one’s own Higher Self and Soul! I like this song a lot because it enlivens the realization that life begins within the depths of every individual’s soul, making the individual realize that the center of the universe lies within her/him, and God/dess lives within her/him. This realization is very humbling and empowering at the same time, since it breeds the idea that every soul around you shares the same Divine Source origin, and it is therefore silly to be in any way adverse towards others and life itself if you don’t want to end up hurting yourself in the end. This leads to a very self-referral stance, one that cares about enhancing, uplifting, and supporting life, in the same way as a mother nourishes her child into adulthood rather than choking it to death out of ignorant, self-absorbed illusions about life. I think In the Garden of My Soul restores a sense of wholeness and sanctity to the soul of the listener that I find to be the highest reward any artistic work can aspire to accomplish for the sake of healing and soul restoration.

Maha Devi Li Ra La - Following the Path

Pulse of Life, on the other hand, deals with the soul’s journey through time and space, throughout the afterlife and in the Here and Now, as it seeks to not only keep reincarnating and learning from its experiences, but to most of all act on the soul’s deepest inherent desire to finally break free from the cycle of reincarnation, in order to experience the ultimate bliss of eternal existence! To accomplish this elusive seeming task, a higher life essence is invited to help with this ultimate transformation from the life of a caterpillar to the life form of a beautiful butterfly, so to say, and this higher essence is found in the Divine Mother who gave birth to All Life in existence in the first place. What better Source to go to than the one from whose lap our own existence sprang originally anyway? The plea for help to grow into ultimate happiness and fulfillment is a very archaic one,; it goes to the very root of our existence, and to the first Mother who gave birth to all other mothers: the Divine Mother, the most ancient of all mothers! According to the Vedic Scriptures, the Divine Mother is the oldest of all beings, encompassing the lifespans of all the other gods, male or female, older than creation itself, as She is the ultimate Giver of life to us all! To entrain our minds and hearts to Her Essence is to resonate with the highest, purest vibrations of Divine values like Eternal Life, unconditional Love, Peace, Justice, Mercy, and infinite Power! “Pulse of Life” has a rhythmic beat to it that – after transcending the death vibe – turns into the mind-expanding fields of pure energy and over-bubbling bliss, to thank and celebrate the Giver of all life in a way that makes our hearts sing with joy!

Maha Devi Li Ra La - Forest Queen

“I like to put positive words to positive feelings and truths.”

The lyrics of Pulse of Life seem innocent and devotional. I find it refreshing to listen to words that express such fundamental processes of the soul in such a simple and pure-hearted way. Almost as a child would express itself before life’s challenges compromise or corrupt its soul.

Maha Devi Li Ra La: Nice of you to notice! I like to express myself in positive, affirming ways, and not fall into the trap of pretentious self-expression. I like to give credit where credit belongs, namely any source that supports and uplifts life, rather than honoring those who pretend to be the good guys, and who just happen to have to rely on oppressive tactics and words in order to maintain and further their position of power over others.

Maha Devi Li Ra La - Enraptured

I like to put positive words to positive feelings and truths, and not express good feelings and experiences in negative words in order to sound ‘cool and trendy’. I think reverse psychology is confusing and misleading at the least, and when used on a mass scale to impress bigger audiences or segments of population, it can have a distorting influence on malleable minds who might adopt the nonsense idea that bad is good, toxins are medicine, and death is life. I believe that the dying process begins long before the actual death of a person, and is reflected in his thoughts, feelings, and actions. There are many premature deaths happening in our modern societies that are based on an orientation towards negativity, and it begins in the way of how a person expresses himself. Negativity makes an individual feel quite empty inside, prone to hurting himself and life around him even more, out of resulting agony, indifference, frustration, anger, and despair. It’s a vicious downward spiral that is often hard to get out of if you don’t have some positive, life-affirming influences in your life, be it through other people, animals, Nature, art, a hobby or meaningful, service oriented work, or through some form of communication with the Divine.

It’s always a big plus, as far as I’m concerned, to have a role model with healthy values rather than one who adds to the already overwhelming influences of self-absorption, moral decadence, and self-destructivity.

Maha Devi Li Ra La: I agree. This is also the driving momentum behind my fourth and last song of this album, Pure Bliss! Honoring the Divine Mother for all the beauty and goodness of life She provides so abundantly to those who can gratefully attune with Her Presence and accept Her Gifts, this song is a devotional entrainment with Her blissful Essence, a transcendental process that allows darkness and bondage to be overcome, and the freedom and light of the higher spheres and dimensions of existence to be experienced in all their splendor and richness.

“I aim at enlivening the whole person while quieting and expanding his mind.”

The song starts with a serene tapestry of undulating sound waves, indicative of entraining the mind with Her mind transcending Consciousness, only to find the musical journey evolving and twirling into cascading bursts of jubilation that assume an increasingly upbeat momentum that keeps carrying the exhilarating vocal melodies to the exquisite tunes and feelings of ecstasy and bliss. According to the saying: Established in Being, perform action! – the building momentum of the song brings the listener closer to the inner sanctuary of silence, while floating on the pulsating beats of life itself. This song aims at enlivening the lower and upper chakras (life force centers) of the body, and is therefore holistic in its influence and nature. I used not only some acoustically enhanced bird singing, but also bird wing flaps in order to present a musical analogy to the liberation of the mind, as it begins to soar to higher dimensions of freedom and bliss. This last characteristic can actually be found in most of my music. I like to aim at enlivening the whole person while quieting and expanding his mind. Many of my listeners say that the effect of my music is both calming and enlivening to the mind and body, which in my opinion is the definition of revitalization and rejuvenation. It also never gets boring or repetitive. I like to describe it as a sort of meditative adventure for the soul!

I definitely have that same mixture of calm yet also exuberance while listening to the album. I particularly like your voice in the opening piece, with the same title as your album, Within Myself. The vocal range of your voice and the beautiful tunes that seem to effortlessly float through the soundscapes and magnetic rhythms are quite unique and, in my opinion, new to the music scene. How did you come up with these melodies? They seem to have a mixture of Eastern and Western influences, with a uniquely mystical and spiritual dimension to them. They definitely have a refreshing and revitalizing influence on me!

“Higher dimensions of existence (…) are of a richer, more potent vibrational essence (…) It’s where the magic happens, where miracles form, and where the heart finds the fulfillment it constantly yearns for and seeks.”

Maha Devi Li Ra La - Light Ray

Maha Devi Li Ra La: I’m happy to hear that! My intention was to create music that has a healing influence and is entertaining at the same time. The Ayurvedic cuisine (Ayurveda = the Science of Life and Longevity) acknowledges the importance of satisfying the taste buds with the unification of all six tastes in one dish: sweet, sour, salty, pungent, bitter, and astringent. It is very satisfying and healing at the same time to indulge in offerings to the senses that make them feel whole. I like to think of my music as timeless, and therefore appealing to any generation. It soothes and enlivens at the same time, and even though it keeps surprising with new elements and sound effects, it calms and regenerates the soul with a soaring energy field and rhythmic permanency that feel very comforting.

“I am impressed with the fact that throughout all of your lively rythms, a sense of coherence is maintained. While listening, I never feel jerked out of my relaxed state of mind by chaotic sounds but rather I feel elevated and centered by your music, similar to a long, deep meditation. Still, your music shows great diversity, as it seems to break out of the Western musical structure. I feel as though the gaps between the notes are enlivened, similar to overtone singing.

Maha Devi Li Ra La - Reflecting Beauty

Maha Devi Li Ra La: To me, higher dimensions of existence, or transcendental states of mind, are of a richer, more potent vibrational essence than denser levels of existence. It’s where the magic happens, where miracles form, and where the heart finds the fulfillment it constantly yearns for and seeks. What better place to go to with the right kind of music that enlivens all your chakras and leads you to these most deliciously fulfilling realms inside your own soul?

I agree completely. I live in a neighborhood filled with machine and traffic noise, as many of us do, and therefore always seek ways to reduce the stress that keeps accumulating. Calming and enlivening music, next to healing body and energy work, have helped me greatly over the years to stay healthy, sane, and functional throughout my stress filled life. That is why I prefer uplifting, harmonizing music rather than music that makes me feel either empty and bored, or agitated and more stressed out.

Maha Devi Li Ra La - Nature Girl

As someone who is constantly trying to heal and better myself, I appreciate music that not only entertains, but is actually capable of centering me and nourishing my soul. Additionally I think your lyrics are very holistic, and of universal character: deep, profound, and applicable to any soul. Can you speak a little more about how you came up with your poetic verses that seem to float perfectly and harmoniously on waves of musical energy?

“I align myself with highest essence before the process of creation. Only after having attuned myself (…) is my musical process guided by this invisible Divine hand.”

Maha Devi Li Ra La: Before I sit down to record my singing or compose and mix musical soundscapes on my keyboard and computer, I like to attune myself with my Higher Self and allow the emerging musical concepts to flow through me into the manifest. Many great artists say, and I can attest to the truth of it, that the artwork they set out to create seems to already exist on a higher level of awareness, ready to be drawn into manifestation by a mind pure enough to recognize its perfect, timeless structure. While composing, I feel like a sculptor who sees the finished sculpture in her mind from the start, and then begins to chisel away the stone until the perfect sculpture has emerged. That’s how it is for me: I see and hear the finished song in my mind, not completely clear in all its details yet from the onset, but as a good, clear enough overview. And as I go along, the music begins to take its perfect shape, with me getting out of the way to let it manifest itself in its timeless beauty and mind-boggling awesomeness. It reminds me of the perfect architectural layouts that practitioners of the ancient Vedic science of Sthapatya Ved build according to. There is always the Brahmasthan in the center of each building, an empty space that represents the void of the Absolute, or the spiritual shrine that evokes feelings of surrender and worship to the Divine Source. It is the place from where the nourishing and protecting influences spring for the whole house and environment. For me that inner sanctuary is the place of alignment with highest essence before beginning to create. Only after having attuned myself thus is my musical creation process guided by this invisible Divine hand that guarantees a musical outcome of the highest purity and vitality.

Maha Devi Li Ra La - Keyboard Whiz

Your music and voice often feel like a powerful ray of light and energy that seems to have a purifying effect on me. Like in a deep meditation, I often feel energy blocks dissolving, and repressed issues surfacing and dissipating in the harmonious waves of your music. Quite phenomenal actually! Do you know what I mean?

Maha Devi Li Ra La: Yes, I understand very much! I myself had quite some tapas (Vedic term for spiritual purification and austerity) to work through to get to the finished musical artwork. Like many great works of art, architecture, or any other accomplishment in any kind of discipline, I had to go through a process of self-transformation to finally be able to express the genial musical work I was able to hear with my inner ear. It often felt that in order to be able to do justice to the beauty of the song that wanted to come through me, I had to vanquish any resistances and transform any impurities to make way for the unadulterated power and magnificence of the impeccable purity and strong energy of highest consciousness.

Maha Devi Li Ra La - Exuberance

I had to keep a strong focus, and constantly tap into the field of pure consciousness in order to let the songs manifest in all their beautiful perfection. I think the Divine wanted to manifest this music as a spiritual technique for listeners to transcend and purify with, much like a Siddhi technique (Vedic term for attaining enlightenment and perfection of the Self).

Only that your music is also very entertaining at the same time!

Maha Devi Li Ra La: Spiritual practice and enjoyable entertainment don’t need to be exclusive, not in my world!

Where did you learn to sing like that? Your voice seems to assume a powerful energy that leads the listener to states of greater awareness and pristine beauty. I sometimes find myself marveling at the effect your voice has on me. It sure has a very uplifting, mind-expanding influence. It conjures a sense of awe and devotion to the creating forces of our universe and world.

Maha Devi Li Ra La: Thank you for saying that. I always liked to sing. As a child I sang a lot of canons with my two sisters. My father, among his other musical performances, played the organ in a church, where I grew up listening to sacred choir music, accomplished sopranos and tenors, and the most beautiful orchestral music, accompanied by my father on the majestic organ he played high up on the church gallery. Later in college, I attended a choir as well, and was smitten with the eclectic and high quality sacred songs our teachers made us practice and perform.

“I like to be an incessantly learning, growing, and transforming human being.”

I took voice lessons during my drama education and later private lessons with a soprano singer. I quit the private lessons, however, after a short period of time, because it didn’t feel good having to strain my voice to bring out those high notes. All my life I wanted to stay as natural as possible, reacting quite strongly to oppressive, artificially based technologies and methods of learning and living. That’s why I didn’t become a ballerina, and that’s why I didn’t become a soprano singer. (Even though I enjoy watching and listening to both kinds of performers.) In fact, I don’t think I want to be put into any mold or categorized in any way, or in any area of life. I like to be an incessantly learning, growing, and transforming human being, one that flows with the waters of life, all the way from the identification as an individual or water drop, to the
identification with the infinite ocean of life that underlies all life forms, and with that I like to stay an enigma to myself, and others. I don’t like to violate the human nature, and I don’t like to see it repressed either. This victimizer/victim principle is one of
the most important vicious cycles to be recognized in all its complexities in our daily lives, and outgrown before ultimate redemption can be experienced. Life is too precious to be cramped into rigid rules and routines that don’t support our higher, finer nature that is free in its ultimate state. In the state of ultimate freedom, I think, the soul is attuned with the Divine Will that contains and expresses the highest best interest for all sentient beings. That means the individual intuitively and/or consciously expresses itself for the benefit of All Life, it expresses life-supporting and righteous thought and behavior. There is no oppressor needed when freedom of expression is the reality, and the individual also does not feel the urge to violate or drain life from others in this most energetic state of ultimate freedom. It is a win/win formula for all life forms that extinguishes the need for antagonism, oppression, and suffering.

Maha Devi Li Ra La - Forest Magic

“I (…) create music that is almost visual, where the mind goes into this imaginative zone in which it can see the beauty and benevolent excitement of the higher dimensions of life.”

Fascinating concept! And by not straining your voice, you can hit those high notes effortlessly and sound naturally elevating! According to the principle that if you don’t go against Nature, it supports you!

Maha Devi Li Ra La: Quite right! You can ride the sound waves, instead
of being squashed by them. It has a freeing influence on both the singer and the listener, I think.

Considering that you never perfected any instruments I am quite impressed with your musical and technical accomplishments. How are you able to create such an immaculate sound without a strong technical background in music theory?

Maha Devi Li Ra La: I guess my strong focus on the field of pure consciousness, or the field of infinite possibilities, as some might call it, has enabled me to come up with the technical skills and musical resources that were needed to create the songs. I meditate regularly, and at some point studied “The Science of Creative Intelligence” at Maharishi International University (as it was called back then) for a period of time, a combination of mind and body transcending techniques that aim at complete self-realization. Every day I connect and identify with my Higher Self through meditation and the Siddhi program (an advanced meditation technique), enlivening the more transcendental levels of my existence. There I always seem to find what is needed to create and finish any project I keep my focus on. It’s as if you look up any fact you want to know about in an infinite library or archive of facts stored for all eternity in the fields of infinite consciousness from time immemorial. And not only do I intuitively attune with what I need for my project, but it also has the tendency to manifest as outer support coming from any source outside of myself. This way I gleaned some beginner’s knowledge on computer music software from my son, then kept on learning as I went along, and soon mastered to playing harmonious melodies and tunes on the keyboard, as well as learned to manipulate sounds to achieve awesome sounding sound effects. I also bought myself an impressive library of royalty-free loops, and began mixing and/or altering loops to form the structural sequences of the songs.

Your music has a distinctive multidimensional tone throughout. How do you accomplish such an ethereal sound?

Maha Devi Li Ra La: I used a lot of different effects, overlaying reverb, echo, tremolo, etc. on most everything, even on my voice in certain places. I recorded bird singing and chirping in our garden and the nearby forests, and put a number of reverb effects on them to make them sound more ethereal. I also like to underlie arpeggios to accomplish this distinct high, blissful vibration, as well as chime, bell, and gong sounds to give it this sacred, star-sparkling, celestial feel! In other places I used my laughter, bubble and/or ocean wave sounds – occasionally accompanied by harp crescendos – and augmenting strong sound waves to create a feeling of overflowing life joy and energies. And occasionally I like to surprise with firework sounds to catapult the mind into new realms of blissful awareness. I wanted to create music that is almost visual, where the mind goes

Maha Devi Li Ra La - Happiness

I wanted to create music that is almost visual, where the mind goes into this imaginative zone in which it can see the beauty and benevolent excitement of the higher dimensions of life in real time. I did the ultimate mastering myself, but there was a point where at first I wanted to have a “professional” mastering expert look at it and do his best. I was, however, disappointed with the outcome, because, according to him, most mastering engineers are used to working with an average of ten tracks per song they try to maximize against and with each other, while my songs each have an average of over a hundred tracks. For a tryout, I reduced those over a hundred tracks for one of my songs to give to him and see the result. As I said, it was disappointing,; the song actually sounded disjointed, and so I decided to leave the integrity and fullness of my songs as they were, and just made some minor adjustments in the end to fine-tune the sound that I wanted.
My intention was to create a celestial sounding vibe that has the capacity to inspire people to new heights and depths within themselves, as if time and space traveling in the many different dimensions of our inner and outer universes. I like to go beyond the ordinary and like to conjure feelings of ancient mysteries and spiritual self exploration. If anyone can transcend his daily confines and have his mind soar in new dimensions of happiness and bliss while listening to my music, I consider my music a success, and that makes me happy.

You definitely have me as a fan. I hope we will hear a lot more of your music in the future. Do you have another album in the works? I understand that you have a number of other projects going at the moment that are not only music related, but that also extend into publishing, and film. Can you give us a brief insight into your artistic and professional ambitions?

Maha Devi Li Ra La: Thank you for your interest. I have indeed started on a new album. It will be a eulogy and hymn to the awe-inspiring ancient Egyptian Goddess Hathor, one of the many representations of the Divine Mother. I started on this music at a point in my life where the veils between life and death, heaven and earth, seemed thin, and by attuning myself with the Goddess’ Energies and Presence, I was jolted into a larger-than-life frame of mind that led to the beginnings of my own entertainment business I’m now in the process of creating. I can’t give a definite date as to when I will release my next album, since I’m currently also focusing on publishing the first two volumes of a book series entitled Within the Oceans of Eternal Love. Ultimately I want to create documentaries on positive, life-enhancing topics and mind-boggling fantasy/Sci-Fi films. For now, however, I am producing music videos to showcase the elevating and beautiful music my label produces. I wish you good luck in all your endeavors. The world can only profit from positivity-oriented artists and businesswomen like you.
